Buddha Purnima

Buddhism

Buddha Purnima is the anniversary of Lord Buddha’s birth as well as a celebration of his enlightenment and death. Many countries observe Buddha’s birthday in different ways.

In South Asia it is mainly celebrated in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Burma and Bhutan. Buddhists remember the basic beliefs of Buddhism, read the Buddha Sutra and distribute kheer (rice pudding).

Here is our collection of books on Buddha that are sure to enlighten you!

This looks a super resource – some known to me (I so love Demi’s book and ‘Thunder Dragon’) – others definitely to be sought out – especially (as I love elephants!) When the Buddha Was an Elephant, which I have read about elsewhere too, but still haven’t read…
